TEST: BLISS PROTECTION - ENG Version

Probably each of you rides enduro, freeride or downhill with some kind of protection. It's a good way how to prevent injuries and fatalities in crashes, but many riders complains to their robustness and thus less dexterity on the bike. We´ve got delivery from the German company Bliss Protection. What shipments include? Well, we're going to look at it.

German company Bliss Protection was established in 2006 and spend 5 years of developming new protection material, which is light, thin, and airy. They succeeded, they created Armogel, bright blue mass with structure of honeycomb. It´s really flexible and about 6mm thin.

From the trio of Bliss Protection products we will check out the spine protectors first. This protector has it´s commercial designation BLISS ARG COMP LD TANK TOP. It´s leightweight vest made from very flexible and comfortable material at which the spine and sacrum protectors are attached all made from Armogel. Absence of front protector is clear evidence of that this vest is made for enduro riders or those who doesn´t want to be all wrapped with chest protector as well.

When I put the vest on for really first time, I was pleased with closing system of it despite its simplicity. Vest closes by classical zipper, which is guided on the right side of the front part. Zip is lined with material from which entirely vest is made, so anything could pinch or scratch. I tried to carry vest with lower functional vest, and on the bare body as well. What suits me the best is to go without a under vests. Vest does not end by the hips as the others, but you can easily stretch it up to your buttock. Wearing vests with protector was really comfortable protector on the back didn´t move at all and remained in place in all situations. What I most appreciated was that after a few minutes I did not know that I even have some protection. I really wasn´t limited on the movements, and the proof was that I wore the vest for example under my backpack in challenging terrain. I even had a chance to test Armogel when fall, I fell on a stone rigt on by back. I only felt that I hit the ground, no pain, no bruising or other injuries. Vesta Bliss ARG COMP LD TANK TOP can be purchased for € 149.90, or about 4200 CZK and is available in sizes XS - XXL.

Another from Bliss Protection products we had a chance to test were knee and elbow protectors. Tey are from two different model lines. Elbows protectors are named ARG Minimalist Elbow Pad and they really correspond to its title, they are light and small, one would say that this can not be reall protection. The protective element of the aforementioned Armogelu, here consists of three parts, the main and two smaller that protects the elbow from the side as well. Protector is placed on a flexible and comfortable lycra material. On the inner side of the bend region is a mesh material, which increases comfort. Both ends of the sleeve are fitted with silicone strap that provides stability on hand, so theres no need of a clamping system. Minimalist fits me really well, they never scratched or slip and putting them on was so simple. Wearing them was very pleasant and thanks to the low profile you wouldnt know Im wearing them. Shock absorption is at a very high level and I have already checked this out with the spine protector. Elbows can be purchased for € 49.90 which is about 1400 CZK.

Knee protectors Bliss ARG Vertical Knee pad came from a series of more robust protectors. Compared to tested vest and elbow protection these are provided with aramid fibers, which can be found on the front. The aramid fiber is made of aromatic polyamides, and due to their strength characteristics it protects from tearing or other mechanical damage. During long trips they does not limit you.At the top and bottom part there is Velcro elastic strap outsideof the protector. Velcro holds perfectly and is secured with several fabric handles, so strap can´t slip of protectors. At the front and the main parts of the protector Armogel is located on the sides, at the top and bottom there are foam liners made of EVA.

The knee protectors didn´t slip or fall at all during riding. I was using them for down hill and enduro as well, they didn´t restrict me when long up hills so they has wide use. During an encounter with an obstacle or a fall Armogel fulfilled its function for one hundred percent, even when I hit the rocks, I felt no pain. Knee pads in a series of Vertical can be purchased for € 89.90, or about 2500 CZK. Protectors are available in women's and children's version.

What I really appreciate about Bliss Protection is their lightness, design, functionality and easy maintenance. I really like their size which didn´t inhibit me at all and it was awesome to ride with them. Lots of first class riders use Bliss Protection products such as enduro superstar Jerome Clementz, Cube Action Team or World Champion in downhill Manon Carpenter. In next test we will introduce you to a new backpack with integrated back protector. Bliss Protection will soon expand to Czech. For more info check out www.blisscamp.com
